7| An Act relating to schools; amending 70 O.S. 2021, |
| Section 6-149.8, which relates to employee injury by |
8| assault or battery; requiring paid leave of absence |
| for employee who is a victim of assault or battery |
9| while working; prescribing minimum amount of days for |
| paid leave; mandating paid leave until medical |
10| clearance if injury occurs; and providing an |
| effective date. |

14|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: |
| |
15| SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 6-149.8, is |
| |
16|amended to read as follows: |
| |
17| Section 6-149.8 An education employee who is injured as a |
| |
18|result the victim of an assault or battery upon the person of the |
| |
19|employee while the employee is in the performance of any duties as |
| |
20|an education employee shall be entitled to a paid leave of absence |
| |
21|from employment with the school without a loss of leave benefits for |
| |
22|a minimum of seven (7) days. If the employee is injured as a result |
| |
23|of the assault or battery, the paid leave of absence without a loss |
| |

1|of leave benefits shall continue until the employee is medically |

2|cleared to return to employment. |
| |
3| SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023. |
