10|       An Act relating to schools; authorizing school                  |
  |       district to offer law enforcement elective course to            |
11|       juniors and seniors; listing certain information to             |
  |       be included in course; permitting State Board of                |
12|       Education to coordinate with the Council on Law                 |
  |       Enforcement Education and Training; authorizing Board           |
13|       to promulgate rules; providing for codification; and            |
  |       providing an effective date.                                    |

16|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:                  |
  |                                                                       |
17|    SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified     |
  |                                                                       |
18|in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11-103.15 of Title 70, unless      |
  |                                                                       |
19|there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:         |
  |                                                                       |
20|    A.  A school district may offer to students in grades eleven and   |
  |                                                                       |
21|twelve an elective course in law enforcement.                          |
  |                                                                       |
22|    B.  The law enforcement elective course shall include, at a        |
  |                                                                       |
23|minimum:                                                               |
  |                                                                       |
24|    1.  A general introduction to law enforcement training;            |
  |                                                                       |

 1|    2.  Critical skills and entry requirements for law enforcement     |
  |                                                                       |
 2|professionals; and                                                     |
  |                                                                       |
 3|    3.  Career opportunities in law enforcement.                       |
  |                                                                       |
 4|    C.  The State Board of Education may coordinate with the Council   |
  |                                                                       |
 5|on Law Enforcement Education and Training to develop instructional     |
  |                                                                       |
 6|materials and curricula for school districts to use in the law         |
  |                                                                       |
 7|enforcement elective course.  The Board may promulgate rules to        |
  |                                                                       |
 8|implement the provisions of this section.                              |
  |                                                                       |
 9|    SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.      |
  |                                                                       |
