1| STATE OF OKLAHOMA | | | 2| 1st Session of the 59th Legislature (2023) | | | 3|HOUSE BILL 2265 By: Sterling | | | 4| | | | 5| | | | 6| AS INTRODUCED | | | 7| An Act relating to schools; authorizing school | | district to offer law enforcement elective course to | 8| juniors and seniors; listing certain information to | | be included in course; permitting State Board of | 9| Education to coordinate with the Council on Law | | Enforcement Education and Training; authorizing Board | 10| to promulgate rules; providing for codification; and | | providing an effective date. | 11| | | | 12| | | | 13|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: | | | 14| SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified | | | 15|in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11-103.15 of Title 70, unless | | | 16|there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: | | | 17| A. A school district may offer to students in grades eleven and | | | 18|twelve an elective course in law enforcement. | | | 19| B. The law enforcement elective course shall include, at a | | | 20|minimum: | | | 21| 1. A general introduction to law enforcement training; | | | 22| 2. Critical skills and entry requirements for law enforcement | | | 23|professionals; and | | | 24| 3. Career opportunities in law enforcement. | | | Req. 1| C. The State Board of Education may coordinate with the Council | | | 2|on Law Enforcement Education and Training to develop instructional | | | 3|materials and curricula for school districts to use in the law | | | 4|enforcement elective course. The Board may promulgate rules to | | | 5|implement the provisions of this section. | | | 6| SECTION 2.
