1| STATE OF OKLAHOMA | | | 2| 1st Session of the 59th Legislature (2023) | | | 3|HOUSE BILL 2701 By: Kendrix | | | 4| | | | 5| | | | 6| AS INTRODUCED | | | 7| An Act relating to schools; amending 70 O.S. 2021, | | Section 5-137, which relates to school nurses; | 8| clarifying definition; providing for yearly salary | | increments based on years of experience; requiring | 9| recognition of years of outside nursing experience in | | determining salary; providing an effective date; and | 10| declaring an emergency. | | | 11| | | | 12| | | | 13|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: | | | 14| SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 5-137, is | | | 15|amended to read as follows: | | | 16| Section 5-137. A. Registered nurses serving as school nurses, | | | 17|as defined in Section 1-116 of this title, who are employed full | | | 18|time by a school district shall qualify for yearly salary increments | | | 19|based on years of experience the same as any other teacher in the | | | 20|public schools. | | | 21| B. Registered nurses serving as school nurses with years of | | | 22|nursing experience which are not obtained in the public schools, | | | 23|shall be recognized for their previous years of nursing experience | | | 24|when determining their contracted salary with a school district. | | | Req. 1| SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023. | | | 2| SECTION 3.
