1| STATE OF OKLAHOMA | | | 2| 1st Session of the 59th Legislature (2023) | | | 3|SENATE BILL 100 By: Pemberton | | | 4| | | | 5| | | | 6| AS INTRODUCED | | | 7| An Act relating to schools; requiring school | | districts to undergo certain assessment by certain | 8| date; requiring the assessment to include certain | | recommendations; providing certain exemption; | 9| directing school districts in certain coordination to | | conduct re-assessments; providing for codification; | 10| providing an effective date; and declaring an | | emergency. | 11| | | | 12| | | | 13|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: | | | 14| SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified | | | 15|in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5-148.1 of Title 70, unless | | | 16|there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: | | | 17| A. Except as provided for in subsection B of this section, by | | | 18|July 1, 2026, each school district in this state shall undergo a | | | 19|risk and vulnerability assessment conducted by the Oklahoma School | | | 20|Security Institute. The assessment shall include recommendations to | | | 21|increase security on school district property. | | | 22| B. A school district that underwent a risk and vulnerability | | | 23|assessment conducted by the Oklahoma School Security Institute in | | | 24| | | | Req. 1|the two (2) years prior to the effective date of this act shall be | | | 2|exempt from the provisions of subsection A of this section. | | | 3| C. After an initial risk and vulnerability assessment is | | | 4|conducted, school districts shall coordinate with the Oklahoma | | | 5|School Security Institute to conduct re-assessments every five (5) | | | 6|years. | | | 7| SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023. | | | 8| SECTION 3.
