 6|       An Act relating to schools; requiring public school             |
  |       districts to designate an industry day for certain              |
 7|       students beginning with certain school year;                    |
  |       providing for certain collaboration to provide                  |
 8|       certain information to certain students; allowing a             |
  |       school district's industry day to include certain               |
 9|       information; providing for promulgation of rules;               |
  |       providing for codification; providing an effective              |
10|       date; and declaring an emergency.                               |

12|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:                  |
  |                                                                       |
13|    SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified     |
  |                                                                       |
14|in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 24-166 of Title 70, unless there   |
  |                                                                       |
15|is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:               |
  |                                                                       |
16|    A.  Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, each public school   |
  |                                                                       |
17|district in this state shall designate a minimum of one (1) day        |
  |                                                                       |
18|every school year as industry day for students in grades nine          |
  |                                                                       |
19|through twelve to explore career opportunities available at            |
  |                                                                       |
20|industries within this state.                                          |
  |                                                                       |
21|    B.  The school district shall collaborate with employers, career   |
  |                                                                       |
22|and technology center schools, and institutions of higher education    |
  |                                                                       |
23|within The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education located in or     |
  |                                                                       |
24|around the school district to provide information to ninth through     |
  |                                                                       |

 1|twelfth grade students about career opportunities available through    |
  |                                                                       |
 2|industries in this state and the education and training requirements   |
  |                                                                       |
 3|for those careers.                                                     |
  |                                                                       |
 4|    C.  A school district's industry day may:                          |
  |                                                                       |
 5|    1.  Be incorporated as part of the Individual Career and           |
  |                                                                       |
 6|Academic Plan (ICAP) process outlined in Section 1210.508-4 of Title   |
  |                                                                       |
 7|70 of the Oklahoma Statutes;                                           |
  |                                                                       |
 8|    2.  Include information about apprenticeship, internship, or       |
  |                                                                       |
 9|mentorship programs available pursuant to Section 1210.528-1 of        |
  |                                                                       |
10|Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes; and                                 |
  |                                                                       |
11|    3.  Be coordinated with the Work-based Learning Program            |
  |                                                                       |
12|established by the Governor's Council for Workforce and Economic       |
  |                                                                       |
13|Development pursuant to Section 5003.10e of Title 74 of the Oklahoma   |
  |                                                                       |
14|Statutes.                                                              |
  |                                                                       |
15|    D.  The State Board of Education may promulgate rules to           |
  |                                                                       |
16|implement the provisions of this section.                              |
  |                                                                       |
17|    SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective July 1, 2026.          |
  |                                                                       |
18|    SECTION 3.  It being immediately necessary for the preservation    |
  |                                                                       |
19|of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby         |
  |                                                                       |
20|declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and    |
  |                                                                       |
21|be in full force from and after its passage and approval.              |
