1| STATE OF OKLAHOMA | | | 2| 1st Session of the 59th Legislature (2023) | | | 3|SENATE BILL 428 By: Montgomery | | | 4| | | | 5| | | | 6| AS INTRODUCED | | | 7| An Act relating to schools; authorizing school | | districts to issue requests for proposals and enter | 8| into contracts for certain security alert system; | | requiring system to include certain features; | 9| providing for codification; providing an effective | | date; and declaring an emergency. | 10| | | | 11| | | | 12|BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: | | | 13| SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified | | | 14|in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5-149.4 of Title 70, unless | | | 15|there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: | | | 16| A. Each school district in this state shall be authorized to | | | 17|issue a request for proposals and enter into a contract with a | | | 18|vendor to provide a security alert system for the safety and | | | 19|security of the district. | | | 20| B. The security alert system shall: | | | 21| 1. Connect the caller with 9-1-1 emergency responders while | | | 22|simultaneously notifying designated school district personnel; and | | | 23| 2. Be available for use as a smartphone application. | | | 24| SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023. | | | Req.
